FAMILY SUPPORT
NBFS provides respite for individuals in need. This service allows and individual to stay in a temporary, safe, stable environment on a planned basis to give families a break from care giving in order to help keep the individual in their home long term. Emergency respite services are available when there is a crisis at home. Respite provides 24-hour or periodic support to families and their individual with behavioral and/or emotional challenges. NBFS provides assistance to children and adults also in the form of:
Family group opportunities
* Educational planning and tutoring
* Developing relationships between schools and parents
EMPLOYMENT TRAINING
Employment Training strengthens and improves skills through training, professional development, and mentorship. There are two goals for this program: (1) empowering individuals to promote self-reflection, personal insight, creativity and a wide range of possibilities and (2) to help the resident to become employable, productive, and self-sufficient in continuing education or recreational activities in the community. These skills are taught in individual and group settings. In addition, the case manager works to locate a place the individual can volunteer, continue their education, participate in recreational activities or locate employment in the community.
The program assists the individuals by:
* Identifying needs, interests, choices, desires, and dreams
* Identifying employment options that fit resident’s vision
* Guiding and supporting individual’s decisions
* Helping generate community directions
• Helping develop social relationships
• Enhancing community connections
• Building hands on skills
