HISTORY
New Beginnings Family Services, Inc. (NBFS) is a non-profit organization located in Columbia, South Carolina. We are staffed by a team of professionals with a desire to serve individuals, families, and the community.

MISSION
The mission of New Beginnings Family Services, Inc. is to provide indivduals with developmental disabilities assistance with activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, household duties, skilled medical monitoring, direct care and intervention for health care needs, temporary relief for caregivers, in a small ("home-like") therapeutic environment or community where one can maximize their choices and independence while receiving the care and support they need to live a productive life in the community.

SYSTEM OF CARE FRAMEWORK

New Beginnings Family Services, Inc. (NBFS) provides services and supports within a unique system of care framework that is reliant on teamwork among providers, recipients, and their families and/or communities. NBFS draws on the statewide network of community services and supports, as well as Agency staff, to assist individuals with intellectual disability/autism, and/or head and spinal cord injury.

NBFS families, their adult or child participants, and providers work in active partnership to assure that each client functions better at home, school, work, and in the community at large. This collaboration creates a line of communication that assures that services provided build on the strengths of the affected individual and are culturally and linguistically appropriate. Families are key team members in this process as they work side by side with NBFS and other professionals and community members involved to plan, deliver, and monitor services provided, maximizing their relevance and effectiveness.
